Echoes by The Rapture
this really is one of the most important records for my musical ambitions. it's basically lcd soundsystem before they formed, i mean its got james murphy production what more could you want. this area of sound really changed my life for the better. my band and i listen to pretty different stuff, i listen to a lot of electronic rap and pop, while they listen to a lot of 60s-80s rock and punk. but i remember the day this linked it all together: we had just come back from seeing avatar 2, and i was talking about how i was relistening to this band and how cool they were. my former bandmate david knew who they were, and put olio on the tv... we all just kinda sat in awe, looked at eachother and from that day forward we were fundamentally a different band with a different sound and ambition. but back to the record. it's basically lcd soundsystem before they formed, i mean its got james murphy production what more could you want. nearly perfect record.
Under the Western Freeway by Grandaddy
What this album means to me personally is only paralleled by the praise it has already received in the many years since its release, coincidentally the same year I was born (1997). Listening to this makes you want to slap your boss in the face, jump out of third story window onto a spaceship, and blast off to the moon, where you watch from a distance as humanity holds on to its greatest hopes and sip white wine.
Isn’t Anything by My Bloody Valentine
Might be better than loveless, but I might just be numb to loveless after it being one of 3 CDs in rotation in my old car for years.
